Grandfather Clock

by Howard Miller
SOLD
Chris,
Milton Keynes

This clock is made from solid Oak throughout and has been finished in a shade of golden (Yorkshire) oak.  The clock is in excellent used condition with just the odd imperfection here and there.  It has been very well looked after by the previous owners and one of the few clocks that I have owned that has been finished in the much sought after golden oak!  I have added a number of pictures which will hopefully show the true quality of this item.  If you require to see more pictures please ask and I will forward more pictures.  Better still please do come along and view the clock,  Or take advantage of my mobile display service.... please see terms and conditions of using this service.

The clock has a Kieninger Westminster chime movement installed in excellent working order.  There is very little wear in this top quality mechanism.  The movement is very clean which may indicate that it has been serviced during the past few years.  The chimes can be silenced at any time using the manual silence adjuster that is located adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to re select the Westminster chimes.  Also there is a second adjustment lever adjacent to numeral 9.  This lever is used to select the auto night silence, there is the option of having the clock silenced throughout the night or if you prefer, alowing the chimes to run throughout the night.

The clock is 8 day and weight driven on cables and wound by using an heavy duty crank key.  The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in excellent used condition.  There are a few very mild imperfections but hardly worth mentioning!  The lyre pendulum is also in excellent used condition but again has a few very mild imperfections.  The brass dial is also in excellent condition.

Access to the movement is by either of two removeable glass side panels located in the hood of the clock.  These are easily removed and can be locked into position when replcaed.  This allows for easy access of the movement for any adjustments to the moon dial or for ease of pendulum replacement/removal.  It also allows for viewing of the movement chiming and striking away!

The clock has one full length door which is held firmly closed under lock and key.

This clock looks fantastic and commemorates Howard Miller 76th anniversary.

The diumensions of the clock are approximately:

7ft"(H) x 21.5"(W) x 12.25"(D)

where (W)&(D) = part of the clock that makes contact with the floor.

This clock is fitted with an Hermle triple chime movement in excellent working order.  The movement is only 8 years of age and so like new with hardly any wear and tear.  Immaculately clean condition.

Comes complete with autonight shut off which means that the chimes automatically cancel from late evening and restart early mornings.  This feature is optional and can be cancelled.    The movement has the option of 3 chimes - St Mich, Whittington, Westminster.  Any of these chime selections can be made by the adjustment of the small lever that locates through the slot in the front of the dial.  There is also a manual silencing adjustment for the chimes using this lever.

The clock has the moon phase dial with the more sought after and more expensive silver chapter ring, and is in exc condition and perfect working order.

The case of the clock is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish.  It is in extremely good condition with just the minor imperfection here and there.  It has been finished in dark mahogany (please study pictures that have been uploaded)
The clock has a very decorative brass lyre pendulum in exc condition - in fact I have just removed the plastic cover that protects the polished brass disc!  It  has 3 brass heavy weights, all in excellent condition with just the          mildest of imperfections here and there.

                   This clock looks superb!

Dimensions of clock are approximately:
76"(H) x 18.5(W) x 10"(D)

Any questions please call me- if you wish to view please ask and arrangements can be made.

This clock is made of solid Walnut and is in excellent condition as seen by the photographs that have been uploaded.

The clock has an Hermle triple chime movement fitted in excellent working order which has been professionally serviced.   There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes which can be selected/silenced by adjusting the small lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial adjacent to numeral 3.
The brass weights and lyre pendulum are in very good condition as is the moon dial which is in perfect working order!
Access to the movement is at the rear of the clock although the pendulum can easily be detached/attached from the front of the clock.
The dimensions of the clock are approx:
75"(H) x 15.5"(W) x 9.75"(D)
Where (H) = height of clock to the very top of the wooden finial

Grandmother Clock
SOLD
Colin, Middlesex

This clock is made of solid mahogany and is in fantastic condition with just the off small knock and blemish here and there.  Considering the clock has been around for the best part of 3 decades it is in excellent condition as seen in the pictures.  The clock has been finished in dark mahogany but please see the pictures to give you a better idea of the shade of colour...

The clock has a German Hermle triple chime movement fitted in excellent working with very little wear and tear.  Despite this the movement has just been fully serviced.  The chimes can be silenced manually using a small push rod that is located in the waist of the clock.  This lever is also used to select a choice of 3 chimes, namely:  Whittington, St Michael, Westminster.  Using the manual silencing feature, the chimes can be cancelled anytime eg when you have people around for dinner or maybe when you are watching your favourite TV programme!

The 3 brass heavy weights are tarnished and soiled with scuff marks but can be best positioned on the chains such that the worst of these imperfections are hidden.  In my opinion the weights are still presentable.   Re the dial, it is very ornate and in very good condition with brass coloured serpentine hands instead of the usual black coloured serpentine hands.

The hood of the clock is easily removed by sliding it forwards (please see picture with hood removed). This makes easy access to the movement should it ever be knocked out of beat or for more simpler tasks such as removing and replacing of the pendulum.

This is a beautiful clock which would enhance any home and the Buyer will not be disappointed.
The dimensions of the clock are approximately:
70.5"(H) x 15.75"(W) x 9"(D)

This clock is made of solid Mahogany throughout and is in excellent used condition as seen by the photographs that have been uploaded.  I would describe the colour as a shade of medium Mahogany.
The clock is about 15yrs
The clock has a Kieninger triple chime movement installed and is in excellent working order.  There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes which can be selected using the small lever that locates through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to manually silence the quarter hourly chime.  To completely silence the clock the hour strike will also need to be silenced.  This is achieved by adjusting a second lever that is adjacent to numeral 9.  When both levers are set to silence the chimes are completely disabled.  Of course with this option one has the choice of independently setting either the quarter chime or hourly strike.
The brass weights, pendulum, dial and moon feature are in overall excellent used condition!   The pendulum disc has a very large diameter, much larger than in the usual Howard Miller floor clocks.  The clock is weight driven on cables and is wound using a crank key.  The pendulum door also has a lock and key to keep it firmly closed at all times.  The top of the clock has two removable glass side panels which makes for easy access of the movement and also allows the movement to be seen working away.
The dimensions of the clock are approx:
86"(H) x 23.5"(W) x 13.5"(D)
 (H) = top of finial & (W), (D) = dimensions around skirting of clock that contacts the floor.
The new owner of this clock will not be disappointed!

This clock is made from solid Mahogany throughout with the exception of the back panel and base panels which are made from Mahogany finish.  The clock is in excellent used condition with just the slightest of imperfections here and there.  The clock has been very well looked after and cared for as seen by the pictures that have been uploaded.  I am not sure of the shade of Mahogany but I'd describe it has a medium Mahogany finish? Please study the pictures that have been added?

The clock has Hermle Westminster Chime movement installed which has just been professionally serviced and therefore in excellent working order.

Also, I have just fitted a brand new brass dial, brand new brass weight shells/fillings, brand new pendulum disc and chime bar!

The movement can be silenced at night or any other time you require some peace and quiet by adjusting a small push rod that is located behind the upper part of the long pendulum door.  This rod is also used to select the Westminster chimes.  The movement installed is an Hermle 0451-053H/114cm which takes the more traditional 114cm pendulum.  The disc that has been fitted is also larger in diameter than the usual 115cm disc that is fitted to most standard sized longcase clocks.

Access to the movement is by either of two wooden panels that are located in the hood of the clock.  This allows for easy access of the movement should you for example require to remove/replace the pendulum or for any purpose such as any manual adjustments on the verge/escapement.  Access to the movement is also achieved by removing the panel at the rear of the hood of the clock.

The dimensions of the clock are approx:

82.25"(H) x 22.25"(W) x 13.25"(D)

This clock looks very traditional and would enhance any home.

This clock is made of solid throughout and is in excellent condition as seen by the photographs that have been uploaded.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster Chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  I am unsure when it was last serviced but i will professionally service the movement before sale!   The chimes can be selected/silenced by adjusting the small lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial adjacent to numeral 3.

The brass weights and lyre pendulum are in near on excellent condition with just the odd light scuff mark/light scratch here and there.  Nothing serious.  The moon dial is also in excellent condition and perfect working order!

Access to the movement is at the rear of the clock although the pendulum can easily be detached/attached from the front of the clock.

If you have any questions please message me or call me..

The dimensions of the clock are approx:

This clock is made of solid Yew throughout (except the back panel of course which is Yew finish) and is in excellent used condition with just the odd minor blemish here and there.  As seen by the pictures it has been very well looked after by the previous owner.  The sides of the cabinet have all been panelled as seen in the pictures..
The clock has a Kieninger 8-day movement installed and is weight driven on chains.  The movement is in excellent working order. It is very clean and looks as if it may have been serviced within the last few years.  It has a choice of 3 different chimes namely Westminster, St Michael and Whittington.  Any one of these 3 chimes can be selected manually by adjusting a small lever that projects through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to manually silence the quarter chimes.  There is also a second lever adjacent to numeral 9.  This lever is used to manually select the hour strike or to disable the hour strike.  Also this lever is used to select the auto night silence feature.  Therefore, if you require to manually silence the chimes both these levers must be set to silence.  If the auto night silence selected then the chimes will automatically silence from late evening and restart early mornings.
The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The weights are in excellent condition with just the odd light scratch/scuff but all insignificant and very presentable! Likewise the brass lyre pendulum is also in excellent condition.  The brass moon dial is in perfect working order/condition!
Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels that are located in the hood of the clock.  This makes for easy access of the movement which is handy for removal/replacement of the pendulum and for any adjustments to the verge.

This clock is made from a mix of solid Oak and Oak finish and is in excellent used condition. It is approximately 35 years of age and has been very well looked after.  I would describe the finish to be a dark Oak - please see the pictures that have been uploaded.

The clock has just had a new unused (old stock) Hermle Westminster chime movement installed.  Therefore in excellent working order!  The Westminster chimes can easily be cancelled at night or at any other time by adjusting a push rod that is located inside the waist of the clock.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in excellent condition.  The pendulum disc is also in exc condition as is the brass tempus fugit dial.

The hood of the clock slides forward which makes for easy access of the movement and is locked in position at the rear of the clock.

(Please note the very ornate raised panel in the base of the clock)

This clock looks and sounds superb and would fit and enhance any home....

This clock is in excellent condition and is made of a mix of solid oak and oak finish. I would describe the finish to be a light Oak but please study pictures to give yourself a better idea?
The clock has a Kieninger Westminster Chime German movement installed which was serviced just 18 months ago so in excellent working order. Please call me if you wish to listen to the clock chiming over telephone? (Or, why not come along and take a listen?)

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights which are in very good condition.  There are a few scratches towards the top of the brass weights but the weight shells are very presentable as seen in the pictures.  The pendulum is also in very good presentable condition as is the very ornate brass dial as seen by the pictures..

Access to the movement is easily achieved by removing either one of two side panels that are located in the hood of the clock.  This makes for easy access to the movement eg., to remove/replace the pendulum etc.

The rear panel has two pre-drilled holes to fix
the clock back to the wall with two brass screws/washers. This is optional of course.

The clock has the silencing feature which is easily selected by the adjustment of one or two levers located next to numeral 3 and numeral 9.  If both levers are set to silent mode then the clock is completely silenced.  If the lever adjacent to numeral 3 is silenced then the quarter chimes are disabled but the hour strike will continue and vice versa.  Any queries on this please call me.

SOLD

Phil, Scotland

This clock is in excellent used condition and is made from solid Mahogany throughout.  It has the odd blemish and a small light scratch which i have tried to picture.  Please see the pic that has been uploaded.  All imperfections are insignificant and hardly noticeable.  I would describe the finish to be a medium to dark Mahogany but please study the pictures to give yourself a better idea as flash photography can be deceiving.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster Chime installed which is in excellent working order.  There is the option to silence the chimes using a small lever that is located next to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

The dial, weights and pendulum disc are in very good used condition - the weights just having the odd scratch/scuff here and there but very presentable and the brass dial just having the mild scuff mark which has been pictured.  I would say that the clock is between 25 - 30yrs of age.

The hood of the clock is easily removed by first releasing the wooden turn on the inside of the cabinet. This then allows the hood to be pulled forwards and makes for easy access of the mechanical movement and its components.  This is very useful when removing/replacing the pendulum etc

This is a top quality longcase clock made by one of the finest clock cabinet makers around, James Stewart of Ireland.

Dimensions of the clock are approx:

83"(H) x 16.75"(W) x 11"(D

This clock is made from solid Oak throughout and is in excellent used condition.
The colour is medium to dark Oak.  However its always hard to show the true shades of colour using flash photography so why not come along and take a browse if you are interested?
The clock is fitted with a Kieninger Westminster chime movement in excellent working order.  The movement looks very clean which may suggest that it has been serviced over the passed few years.
The clock comes with autonight silence - the chimes silence from late evenings and restart in the mornings.  There is the option to cancel this feature.  The chimes can also be silenced manually by using the levers adjacent to numerals 3 and 9. They can also be set individually for the quarters or hourly strike only.
The 3 brass heavy weights are in excellent condition with just the odd light scratch as is the lyre pendulum and brass moon phase dial(which has some very mild scuff marks as pictured), in perfect working order.
This clock looks fantastic and would enhance any home!

The clock has an Hermle triple chime movement installed in excellent working order.  However, despite this I will ensure that the movement is professionally serviced before sale.  The clock comes with a choice of 3 different chimes namely St Michael, Whittington and Westminster.  There is also a silencing feature.  ALL these different settings are easily selected by the adjustment of a small lever that is located next to numeral 3 on the dial.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in near on excellent condition.  One of the weights have a few scuff marks but this is very small and can easily be hidden by correctly positioning the weight on the chain.  The weights are extremely presentable!  Likewise the brass pendulum disc and the brass moving moon dial are in extremely good condition.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels which are located in the hood of the clock.  This makes for easy access of the movement eg., when removing/replacing of the pendulum or to simply view the movement chiming away..

This is a much sought after and excellent quality longcase clock made by one of the best clock manufacturers around - Interclock of Belgium.  The Buyer of this clock will not be disappointed!

Dimensions of the clock are approximately:

79"(H) x 16.5"(W)  x 9.5"(D)

Where (H) = height of clock to very tip of finial and (W)&(D) = part of clock that contacts the floor.

This clock is made from a mix of solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in excellent used condition with just a few marks and blemishes her and there.  I would estimate the age to be around 25yrs.  Its been very well looked after as seen by the pictures that have been uploaded.  If you require further pictures please ask?

The clock is fitted with an German Hermle triple chime movement in excellent working order.  The movement is very clean and looks as if it may have been serviced within the last few years.  However I do not know the history of the clock so please bear that in mind.
The movement comes with a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington.  There is also the option to manually silence the clock at any time.  Any of these features is easily achieved by adjusting a small lever that projects through the dial and is adjacent to numeral 3.. please see pictures.
The brass weights and pendulum are in excellent condition.  Likewise the brass moon phase dial which is in perfect working order.

This clock is mainly made of solid Mahogany but does have some timber veneers such as the base panel/back panel.  Despite studying the colour of the clock I am presuming that it is a shade of Mahogany although it sometimes difficult to decide between some shades of Mahogany and Oak!  Please see the pictures that have been uploaded?

The clock case given a very mild distressed look and is in excellent condition with just a few minor scuffs and knocks here and there... please see some of the pictures that have been added.  The clock case is extremely well built by perhaps one of the best clock makers of all time, James Stewart and I should imagine that the clock is about 30 years of age.

The hood of the clock slides forward which makes easy access to the movement which is very useful when removing and replacing the pendulum and for example to put the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat.  The hood is locked in position by a small wooden turn that has been cleverly hidden by the Irish manufacturer.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed in excellent working order.  I do not know the history of the clock ie not sure when it was last serviced but the movement is very clean and works extremely well!  The Westminster chime can easily be selected by adjusting a small lever that locates throught the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to silence the clock.

The brass weights are in nice condition as is the the brass tempus fugit dial.  The weights do have a few scuff marks/small dings and some very mild tarnishing but are extremely presentable.  The weights can be hung on the chains such that most of these marks cannot be seen.  The brass pendulum has some mild corrosion on the extreme edge but other otherwise in extremely good condition.

This clock looks superb and has been built to last.  This clock would grace any home!

This clock is made of
solid Oak throughout and is in excellent condition.  I would describe the colour to be a medium Oak.

The clock has a Kieninger Triple chime movement installed in excellent working order.  The movement has just been serviced - NOT RE-OILED as some do - but carefully taken apart and cleaned properly!  There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes.  All these selections can be made by adjusting a lever adjacent to numeral 3.  Amongst the selections is the option to manually silence the clock.  If the clock is manually silenced using the lever adjacent to numeral 3 the quarters will silence but the hour strike will continue!  To completely silence the chimes manually a second lever adjacent to numeral 9 must also be adjusted to silent position.  When both levers are set to silence the clock will be silenced!  Of course there is the option here to individually select either the quarter chimes or hourly strike.  The movement also comes with the auto night silencing feature - when selected by adjusting the lever adjacent to numeral 9 the hour strike and quarter chimes are disabled.  The chimes discontinue from 10pm evenings and restart 7:15am (so, chimes and strikes at 10pm and silenced at 10:15pm onwards until 7:15am)

Access to the movement is by either or two removable side panels that are located in the hood of the clock.  This makes for easy access to the movement and also allows the movement to be seen chiming and striking away.

The three brass heavy weights are in mint condition as is the lyre pendulum and brass moon dial.

As seen in the pictures, this clock looks superb and would look great in any home and is one of the very few Oak clocks that I manage to purchase!

Dimensions of clock are approx:

85 3/8"(H) x 22 3/4"(W) x 12 3/4"(D)
Where (W)&(D) = part of clock that contacts floor.

The clock has adjustable feet so easy to set-up on any floor surface.

This clock is in excellent used condition and is about 35 - 40 years of age although looks much older.  The cabinet is a mix of solid oak and oak veneers.  There is a small crack in the hood door - please see the picture that has been added.  This is a very old imperfection and is in keeping with a clock that looks almost like an antique!  The crack in the timber has not weakened the structure at all, the door is still solid with no sign of weakness.  To be honest its hardly recognisable and gives the clock a slight distressed look and adds character to the clock.

The clock is fitted with a German Urgos mechanical movement and has Westminster chimes and can be silenced - both these features are selected by the adjustment of a small lever that is located adjacent to numeral 3 on the break arch dial.

The movement has been regularly serviced (professionally) by the previous owner of the clock - i have inspected the movement and i can confirm that it looks very clean with minimal wear.

The 3 brass heavy weights that power the mechanism are in like- new condition.  The pendulum disc has a few tarnish marks but in a very presentable condition.  The brass moon dial is in excellent condition and excellent working order.

I will be fitting a brand new suspension spring before the clock is sold.  I am hoping to receive and fit the spring before the new year begins.

The clock was manufactured in the USA.

Dimensions of clock:
73 5/8"(H) x 18.25"(W) x 10 3/4"(D) where (W)&(D)= lower part of clock that is in contact with the floor.

This clock is fitted with an Kieninger Westminster chime movement which apparently has been serviced and therefore in excellent working order.

I have been informed that the clock is about 35 years of age.

The chimes can be totally silenced/partially silenced at night or any other time by adjusting either or both of two levers that are located at the rear of the mechanism.  Unlike the majority of most Hermle movements, this clock has the option of silencing the quarter chimes and/or hour strike.  This is acheived by removing either or both of the two side panels that are located in the sides of the hood of the clock.  This also allows for easy access of the movement such as removal and replacement of the pendulum etc etc.

The dial very ornate and is solid brass and in excellent condition.

The 3 brass weights are in very good condition but do have scuff marks and tarnishing but are very presentable.

The case of the clock is a mix of solid Mahogany(mostly constructed of solid Mahogany) and Mahogany finish and is in extremely good condition!  I have added a picture of the small imperfection that is at the very bottom of the clock and which in my opinion can hardly be seen.  This clock has been around for over  three decades and has been very well looked after.  Being at an height of less than 6ft it would suit and enhance any home.

If you require any further pics please ask or better still, come along and view the clock -  the buyer of this clock will not be disappointed!

This clock is made of a mix of solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in extremely good condition.  It does have a few imperfections here and there some of which i have tried to picture.  However all these imperfections are very old and in keeping with a clock that has been around for the best part of 35yrs.

I would describe the colour of the clock to be dark Mahogany.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed in excellent working order.  The chimes can be silenced at night or any other time by adjusting a lever that is located through an elongated slot in the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chimes.

The clock has 3 brass heavy weights - all 3 of the brass weight shells are in very good condition with just the odd mild scuff mark here and there and mild tarnishing.  The weights are very presentable as is the brass the pendulum disc.

There is an option of Westminster chimes, Whittington chimes and St Michael chimes, all of which can be selected using the lever that locates through the slot in the dial.  The chimes can also be  silenced manually using this lever.  The clock also comes complete with auto night silence which means that the chimes cancel automatically mid-late evenings and restarts in the mornings.  This is a very useful feature and when selected the manual silencing device is rarely need unless perhaps you just requite some peace and quiet during day time hours...

This clock has an Hermle Westminster Chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  The clock is approx 6years of age so the mechanism has minimal wear and tear.  The 3 brass weights are in excellent condition as is the dial and pendulum.

The clock is a mix of Solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in excellent condition - it has a very small mark where the leading edge of the hood door has made contact on the arch of the clock -  I have never owned a long case yet with the above design that has not had the same problem! However, it is very minor indeed.

The clock can be silenced at night time or any other time by adjusting a lever that projects through an elongated slot in the dial that is adjacent to numeral 3. This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

This clock is in very good condition with just a few minor imperfections here and there.  It is constructed of a mix of solid Yew and Yew finish.  The clock was manufactured in Copenhagen and has been very well constructed.  It is very basic in design- nothing fancy, but looks very attractive with its leaded door and coloured glass panels in the pendulum window.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  I do not know the full history of the clock so please bear that in mind.  However I was informed by the previous owners that the movement was serviced a few years ago.  The clock has been generally very well looked after as seen by the pictures that have been added.

The clock does not have a silencing switch but if that is important I will quite happily fit a silencing device free of charge.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights all in very good condition.  The quarter hour weight has a small ding on its rear edge but this is not visible when viewed from the front of the clock.  The brass weight shells are very presentable despite have a few light scuff marks and some very mild tarnishing.

This clock is in excellent used condition.  I have carefully checked over the clock cabinet and it looks to be made of solid Oak throughout apart from the back panel - which, like nearly all longcase clocks - is made from veneered timbers.  The clock is about 40 yrs of age and has been very well looked after as seen by the pictures that have been uploaded.  If you require further pictures please ask and i will forward further pictures to your personal email address?

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed in excellent working order.  I am not sure of the full history of the clock but what i can say from careful inspection is that the movement has been serviced is extremely clean and has professionally rebushed!  This has been done within the last 18 months - 2yrs and as mentioned above in perfect working order.

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The brass weight shells do have scuff marks and some tarnishing but are in keeping with a clock that is 40 years of age.  The worst of these marks can be hidden by correctly positioning the weights on the chains.  In my opinion the weights are very presentable despite the scuff the marks.  I have tried to add a few pictures of these marks but not easy when using flash photography.  Please see pictures that have been uploaded. If you require more pics, plz ask?

The brass pendulum disc is in exc condition as is the brass tempus fugit dial.

Regarding the chimes, they can be silenced at any time by adjusting a small push rod that is situated inside the waist of the clock.  This rod is also used to select the Westminster chime.

This is a beautiful clock in lovely condition and exc working order and one of the few longcase clocks (and very sought after) in Oak  that I very rarely manage to get hold of!

This clock is made of a mix of solid Oak and Oak finish.  Apart from the tiniest ding on the arch I would describe the clock to be in excellent used condition - this clock is very clean and has been very well looked after!

I would describe the finish to be a shade of medium Oak, please see pictures that have been uploaded?  However, it is sometimes very difficult to decide whether certain shades of timber are Oak or perhaps a shade of Mahogany!  I have checked out the colour of this clock as best as i can and in my opinion it does look like a shade of Oak.  Please check pictures carefully before taking my word for it?

The clock is fitted with a German Hermle movement which has been properly serviced (NOT re-oiled as some decide to do before selling!)  and therefore in excellent working order.  The clock has Westminster chimes which can easily be selected by adjusting a small lever that projects through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to manually silence the chimes at any time.    The clock has a very nice mellow chime - not too noisy or imposing which is perhaps more acceptable as the clock constantly chimes every 15 minutes! (unless silenced of course)

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels which are located in the hood of tthe clock.  This makes for quite easy access to the movement for adjusting the beat of the clock or perhaps for pendulum removal/replacement.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in good condition.  There are a few odd scuff mark here and there and some tarnishing/few scratches but the weights can be positioned on the chains such that most of these imperfections are not seen.  The weights are very presentable as is the brass pendulum disc and tempus fugit dial.

This clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed and is in excellent working order.  On inspection there is very little wear and tear in the mechanism!

I have just fitted a set of 3 brand new brass weight shells/caps to this clock.  The pendulum disc is in very good condition as is the ornate brass Tempus Fugit dial.  The clock can be silenced at any time using the small lever that locates through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

The clock case has been finished in dark mahogany.  The clock cabinet which is a mix solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish, is in near on excellent used condition with just a few imperfections here and there.  I have tried to add pictures of these imperfections.  There are a few scratches on the lower moulding beneath the pendulum door.  Despite every effort i was unable to improve on the above picture that has been added but I can tell you that if you came along and viewed the clock these scratches are hardly recognisable - the flash photography gives a good general ideal but does little justice to the true look/quality of my clocks!!  Please see  pictures that have been uploaded... any questions/queries please ask?

The clock measures approx:

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed which has just been serviced and therefore in very good working order.  The movement can be silenced by a lever that is located behind the dial.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chimes.  Access to this lever is easily achieved by sliding the hood of the clock forward by 4-5 inches(no need to completely remove the hood).  The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in very good presentable condition - please see the picture that have added of the weights.  The weights do have some scuff marks here and there but can be hung on the chains such that these marks are not really noticeable when the weights are viewed from the front of the clock.  The brass pendulum disc is in exc condition as is the brass tempus fugit dial.

The hood of the clock as mentioned above slides forward and can easily be removed/replaced.  This is very handy to gain quick and easy access to the movement eg., to remove/replace the pendulum and if required to gain access to the suspension etc

The clock has just been wax polished and despite the odd knock here and there, it looks great and would enhance any home.

If you require further info or further pictures please do ask and i will forward further pictures to your personal email address?

Grandfather Clock

Pete, Cheshunt.

This clock has an Hermle triple chime movement fitted and in excellent working order.  There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes.  The clock can also be silenced.  All these features are easily achieved by the adjustment of a small lever that locates through a slot in the front of the dial.  The clock also has a very pretty moving moon dial with the rather rare arabic numerals.  The dial is made of solid brass and in excellent condition.  The moving moon is in perfect working order.  The movement is powered by the usual 3 brass heavy weights.  The weights are in good overall condition but do have a fair few scuff marks where the brass laquer has faded over the years.  However, despite this, the weights can be hung on the chains such that these marks are hardly visible when viewed  from the front.  This tarnishing is a result of years of use and handling of the weights(..to re-wind the clock) without the use of gloves!  The clock cabinet is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish.  Typically, the mouldings, door frames, spindles are all constructed from solid mahogany.  The clock case is is in extremely good condition.  On the inside of the waist of the clock behind the base of the waist door, there has been a small repair job undertaken as it looks as if someone in the past has accidentaly dropped a weight which has caused some mild damage in that area which has been repaired at some time.  This damage is not at all visible from the outside and to be honest a good job has been done to amend this.  If you require further pics please ask and i will forward some to your personal email address?  The shade of colour of the clock is medium to dark mahogany.  Dimensions of the clock are:

This clock is made from solid mahogany throughout and is in excellent condition.  I can best describe the final colour has a mid brownish shade of mahogany (no hint of red mahogany).   The clock is fitted with an Hermle 0461-053H/94cm movement which has just been fully serviced.  The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights which are in very good condition.  It also has a decorative lyre pendulum which is in good condition - the disc has a scuff mark but to be honest is not really  noticeable from outside of the clock.  The clock also has the moon phase which is the very ornate/in excellent working order.  The dial is solid brass and is in very good condition.  The clock has Westminster chimes. This is easily selected using the small adjustment lever that is located through a slot in the front of the dial.  There is also the option to silence the chimes using this lever.  Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels which are located in the hood of the clock;  access is also obtained at the rear of the hood of the clock by first removing the back panel.  The waist door of the clock is held firmly closed by lock and key as seen in the picture.  This clock also has glass side panels in the waist of the clock cabinet which is quite an attractive feature as the weights and pendulum can be viewed from all angles.  If you require further pictures please ask and i will forward to your personal email address?  The dimensions of the clock is approx: 83"(H) x 19.5"(W) x 13"(D)

This clock was built by the Smallcombe clock company to commemorate  the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales.  There were 100 clocks built in total to commemorate the royal wedding and this one is edition number 76.  It is in very good condition and made of solid mahogany throughout.  The dial and the rear of the waist door have a brass plaque attached with the relevent details engraved.

The clock has a Hermle Westminster chime movement 0451-053H/114cm which is in perfect working order.  The movement is powered by 3 heavy brass weights.  The brass weight shells are shabby and have scuff marks here and there. This is purely cosmetic of course and does not affect the mechanism whatsoever.  I have just fitted a brand new pendulum and disc to the clock which is above average size diameter.

The clock can be silenced at night or any other time you may require peace and quiet!  This is easily achieved by opening the waist door and adjusting a lever that is easily accessible in the upper part of the waist of the clock.
