Grandfather Clock

SOLD,
Rod and Sue, Lancashire
This clock is in excellent condition and is made of solid oak throughout.   I would describe the finish to be a medium Oak but please study the pictures to give yourself a better idea?
The clock has a Kieninger Westminster Chime German movement installed which I was informed was serviced just a few years ago.  The movement is in excellent working order!  Please call me if you wish to listen to the clock chiming over telephone? (Or, why not come along and take a listen?)
The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights which are in near on exc condition with just the odd imperfection here and there.  The weights are extremely predentable!  Likewise the pendulum and the very ornate brass dial as seen by the pictures..
Access to the movement is easily achieved by removing either one of two side panels that are located in the sides  of the hood of the clock.  This makes for easy access to the movement eg., to remove/replace the pendulum, silencing the clock etc  Both side panels have slightly cupped over the years (I would estimate the age of the clock to be around 35yrs) which is quite a common feature in these clocks as the panels are structurally quite thin.  However both panels are fully functional and in very good cosmetic condition.
The clock has Westminster chimes but can be silenced at any time.  The silencing feature is easily selected by the adjustment of one or both levers which are located behind the dial and directly behind numerals 3 and  9. Access to these levers is easily made by removing the side panels as already mentioned above.  If both levers are set to silent mode then the clock is completely silenced.  If the lever  behind numeral 3 is silenced then the quarter chimes are disabled but the hour strike will continue and vice versa.  Any queries on this please call me.
Dimensions of clock approx:
74.5"(H) x 16.75"(W) x 8.5"(D)
Price £500

 Granddaughter Clock

SOLD

Phill & Linda, Skegness

This clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement installed and is in excellent working order.  On inspection there is very little wear and tear in the mechanism!  Although I am unsure of the full history of the clock I was told by the previous owners that was serviced a few years ago.  The movement is very clean indeed!

The 3 brass heavy weights are in very good condition  as is the pendulum and tempus fugit brass dial. The clock can be silenced at any time using the small lever that locates through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

The clock case has been finished in dark mahogany.  The clock cabinet is constructed from solid Mahogany throughout and is in excellent used condition.  There is a slight warping of the timber in one of the sides of the waist of the clock which i have added a couple of pictures of.  I didn't see this until yesterday and I have had the clock ticking and chiming away for over a week now!  As I am honest in all my listings I felt it necessary to mention this, please note the pics that have been uploaded.
The clock measures approx:

59.25"(H) x  11.75"(W) x 7"(D)
where (W)&(D) = dimensions of clock where it contacts the floor.

This clock has a beautiful chime, looks great and would fit and enhance any home.

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD
Graham, Haverhill

This clock is made mostly from solid Mahogany and is in very good used condition.  As mentioned it does have some mild knocks, marks and scratches which are mainly around the skirting of the clock.  These imperfections are hardly visible being at the base of the clock.  I have pictured some of these imperfections, please see pictures that have been uploaded?  If you require further pics please ask and i will forward further pictures to your personal email address.  The colour is medium- dark Mahogany.  However its always hard to show the true shades of colour using flash photography so why not come along and take a browse if you are interested?

The clock is fitted with a Kieninger Westminster chime movement in excellent working order.  The movement looks very clean which may suggest that it has been serviced over the passed few years.  If full price is paid I will service the movement free of charge!

The clock comes with autonight silence - the chimes silence from 10pm evenings (sounds out 10pm then silenced) and restarts at 7:15am.  There is the option to cancel this feature.  The chimes can also be silenced manually by using the levers adjacent to numerals 3 and 9. They can also be set individually for the quarters or hour strike only.
The 3 brass heavy weights are in excellent condition as is the lyre pendulum and brass moon phase dial which is in perfect working order.
This clock looks fantastic - it has the manufacturers name on a plaque just below the hood of the clock, Billib of Bournmouth.
The dimensions of the clock are approx:

78.5"(H) x 18"(W) x 9.75"(D)
Price £695

 Grandmother Clock

SOLD
Greg, Northants

This clock is in excellent used condition - the case is finished in a shade of medium Mahogany - dark Mahogany (plz study the pictures) and is a mix of solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish.
The clock is fitted with an Hermle Westminster chime movement which is in excellent working order.  However, I will fully service the clock before sale!  The clock can be silenced.   This is easily achieved by adjusting the small lever that locates through the slot in the front of the dial next to numeral 3.
The dial is very ornate and has the moon phase feature, in excellent condition and working order.
The clock is about 20 - 25 years of age.
The brass weight shells are tarnished and soiled and have scuff marks.  They can be positioned on the chains such that the worst of these imperfections are not that visible.  However despite this, in my  opinion, the weights are still presentable.
If you are interested and require more pictures then please ask and i will gladly forward further pics to your email address?
Dimensions of the clock are approximately:
70.25 "(H) x 13.5(W) x 8"(D) Please message me or call me if you are interested and have any questions?

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD

karl, Liverpool

This clock is made of solid Mahogany throughout and is in excellent used condition.  I would estimate the clock to be around    35- 40yrs of age.  Please study the pictures - I would say that the colour is a shade of medium Mahogany?

The chimes can be selected by adjusting a small lever that locates through the dial and is positioned next to numeral 3.  There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes.  There is also a silencing position which when selected disables the chimes until one of the above 3 chimes is selected.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels which makes for easy access of the movement when removing/replacing the pendulum etc.  Also allows the movement to be seen working away

The clock has an Urgos triple chime movement installed in excellent working order.  I do not know the history of the clock and therefore unsure when the movement was last serviced.  However having checked out the movement it looks very clean which may suggest that it has had a service within the last few years.  If the full asking price is paid I will be quite happy to service the movement (which involves at least 4 hours of work as all my clock movements are carefully taken apart and cleaned properly!)

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The brass weights are in very good used condition.  They do have  the odd scuff/scratch here and there but nothing significant and are very very presentable!

The brass dial is also in very good condition as is the brass lyre pendulum which looks quite traditional as the disc is located at the base of the pendulum door.

This clock is a top quality timepiece- is very stocky and heavy- and would look great in any home.  If you require further info please do not hesitate to call me?

Dimensions of clock are approx:

82.5"(H) x 19"(W) x 12.5"(D)

Where (H)&(W)= part of clock that contacts the floor.

Price £600 Bargain!

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD

Andy, Kent

This clock is in excellent used condition - the clock is made from solid oak throughout and has been given a slight distressed look.  I would descibe the finish to be a shade of medium Oak.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster Chime installed which has just been serviced and so in excellent working order.  There is the option to silence the chimes using a small lever that is located next to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

The dial, weights and pendulum disc are in exc condition and have been given an antique finish which has made the clock look much older than it actually is.  I would say that the clock is between 25- 30yrs of age.

The hood of the clock is easily removed by first releasing the wooden turn on the inside of the cabinet. This then allows the hood to be pulled forwards and makes for easy access of the mechanical movement and its components.  This is very useful when removing/replacing the pendulum etc

The clock has been manufactured by James Stewart - one of the best cabinet makers around!

Dimensions of the clock are approx:

75.5"(H)x16"(W)x10.5"(D)

This clock looks superb and would grace any home!

Price £650 (Bargain!)

 Grandmother Clock

SOLD

Chris, Manchester

This clock is made of a mix of solid mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in excellent used condition.   Please see the pictures that have been uploaded.

The clock has a Westminster chime Hermle movement fitted. I am not sure when the movement was last serviced but I can honestly say that it is currently in excellent working order. However the movement will be serviced before the Buyer receives the clock!  The clock can be silenced at night or any other time by adjusting a small push rod that is located in the waist of the clock. This rod is also to select the Westminster chime.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in very good condition... with just the odd scuff and blemish here and there
The brass pendulum is also in good condition as is the very ornate moon dial.   However, despite the small imperfections, the brass weights are in very presentable condition!
I would estimate the age of the clock to be about 35 yrs.
The clock is approx:

64"(H) x 14 3/8"(W) x 8"(D)

Where (W)&(D)= part of clock that contacts the floor.

If you are interested but would prefer to see further pictures please ask and i will forward further pictures to your personal email address.  Or, if you have any questions/queries please give me a call...

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD

Pauline, West York's

This clock has an Hermle Westminster Chime movement fitted in excellent working order. I am not sure of the full history of this clock but as stated above is working extremely well.  The clock is about 16yrs of age. The 3 brass weights are in very good condition as is the dial and pendulum.  The weights have the odd minor scuff but are extremely presentable!  The brass pendulum is in excellent condition.
The clock is a mix of solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish - it has an indentation mark on the front edge of the lower moulding.  I have tried to picture this as best as I can.  It takes nothing away from the true quality of this clock which is otherwise in excellent condition!-

The clock can be silenced at night time or any other time by adjusting a lever that projects through an elongated slot in the dial that is adjacent to numeral 3. This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.
Dimensions of the clock are approximately:

76.75"(H) x 16"(W) x 9.5"(D)

Colour of clock is dark Mahogany

Price £495

  Grandfather Clock

SOLD

Nadeem, West York's

This clock is made of solid Mahogany throughout and is in excellent used condition as seen by the photographs that have been uploaded.  I would describe the colour as a shade of medium to dark Mahogany.  Please see pics that have been uploaded..

The clock is about 15 - 20 yrs of age.

The clock has a Kieninger triple Chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  However, the movement will be serviced before sale... this will allow a period of up to 4yrs before considering a further service.

There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes which can be selected using the small lever that locates through the dial adjacent to numeral 3  This lever is also used to manually silence the quarter hourly chime.  To completely silence the clock the hour strike will also need to be silenced.  This is achieved by adjusting a second lever that is adjacent to numeral 9.  When both levers are set to silence the chimes are completely disabled.  Of course with this option one has the choice of independently setting either the quarter chime or hourly strike.

The brass weights are in extremely good condition with just the odd scuff /scratch here and there but very presentable!  The brass lyre pendulum is in excellent condition as is the brass dial and moving moon feature.  The clock is weight driven on cables and is wound using a crank key.  The pendulum door also has a lock and key to keep it firmly closed at all times.

The top of the clock has two removable glass side panels which makes for easy access of the movement and also allows the movement to be seen working away.
The dimensions of the clock are approx:
81"(H) x 21"(W) x 12"(D)
[ (H) = top of finial & (W), (D) = dimensions around skirting of clock that contacts the floor.
The new owner of this clock will not be disappointed!

 Grandmother Clock

SOLD

John, Stoke-on-Trent

This clock has been constructed from a mix of
solid Mahogany (Mouldings) and Mahogany finish and is in very good used condition.  However, please see pictures that have been uploaded as it is sometimes hard to distinguish between certain shades of Mahogany and certain other timber finishes such as Oak and Walnut!  In my opinion the clock is a light-medium shade of Mahogany.  As mentioned, the clock cabinet is in very good condition with the exception of a few small light knocks on the lower moulding which I have added a picture of.  The clock cabinet also has lots of different shades of grain pattern which adds lots of character to the overall look of the clock.

The clock is fitted with an Hermle Westminster chime movement which has just been professionally serviced and therefore in excellent working order.  I have also just fitted a silencing mechanism to the clock ie., a small lever located to the right of the dial (near numeral 3) access to which is via the hood door.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in good presentable condition.  The quarter chime weight has scuff marks but the worst of these marks can be hidden by correctly positioning the weight on the chain.  The pendulum disc also has the odd scuff mark.   The dial is in very good condition.

The hood of the clock can easily be removed which gives easy access to the movement for pendulum removal/replacement and for other requirements such as adjustment of the verge etc. if needed.

Dimensions of the clock are approx:

69"(H) x 14.5"(W) x 8.25"(D)

Price £395

Ray & Gloria, Essex

This clock is in excellent condition and exc working order.  The movement is very clean and looks as if it may have been serviced recently.  However, I am unsure of when it was last serviced so please bear this in mind.
The clock is fitted with an Hermle Westminster chime which can be silenced at night or any other time by adjusting the small lever that is located to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the Westminster chime.
The 3 brass heavy weights and dial are in excellent condition and the moon dial is in perfect working order.
On close inspection - in my opinion - it looks as if the clock case is made of solid Oak throughout.  I would describe the finish to be 'medium Oak'.  Please check out the pictures that have been uploaded?  If you require further pictures please ask and I will forward more pictures to your personal email address.  Alternatively, please come along and view the clock?

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD
Melvyn, Nottinghamshire

This clock is in excellent used condition as seen by the pictures that have been uploaded.  It is made from a mix of solid Yew and Yew finish.  I would say that the clock is around 15yrs of age.

The clock has an Hermle triple chime movement installed in excellent working order with very little signs of wear and and tear in the mechanism.  The clock plays a choice of 3 chimes - Whittington, St Michael and Westminster, any of which can be selected manually by adjusting the lever that locates through the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to manually silence the clock.  The clock also has the automatic night silence feature which when selected cancels the chimes in the late evening and restarts the chimes in the mornings.  This feature can be disabled by adjusting a push rod.  If the autonight shut off is cancelled then the clock will chime continually unless the manual silencing device is used.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights all in excellent condition.  The brass lyre pendulum is also in excellent condition.  The brass break arch dial is in near on excellent condition with the odd 'cobweb type' scratch which are hardly noticeable.  The moon dial is in perfect working order.

This clock would fit and enhance any home and the new owner will not be disappointed.

The dimensions of the clock are approx:

73.5"(H) x 16"(W)  x 9.5"(D)

Richard, SW London

This clock is made of a mix of solid Mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in excellent used condition.   Please see the pictures that have been uploaded.

The clock has an Hermle triple chime movement fitted in exc working order.  There is a choice of 3 chimes- Westminster, St Michael and Whittington.  All these features can be selected by adjusting a small lever that is located next to numeral 3 on the break arch moon dial.  This lever is also used to silence the chimes.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in very good condition... the weights do have some mild scuff marks and a few small dings but they can be hung on the chains such that these marks are barely visible when viewed from the front of the clock.  Please view pictures that have been uploaded.  The brass pendulum is in excellent condition. The brass moon dial is in near on excellent condition with just the odd 'cobweb' scratch

The hood of the clock can easily be removed by sliding it forward.  This makes for easy access to the mechanical movement to add or remove the pendulum or to put the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat.

I would estimate the clock to be about 20 years of age.

The clock is approx:

Grandmother Clock
SOLD
Ian, West Midlands
This clock is in excellent condition and working order.  I am not sure if the clock is a shade of mahogany or walnut!  Please study the pictures carefully?  I can say that it is constructed from a mix of mainly veneered timber and some solid timber (mouldings).

The clock has an Hermle Bim Bam strike movement fitted in exc working order.  I am not sure of the background of the clock hence not sure when it was last serviced but currently in perfect working order.  The clock strikes the number of hours and strikes once on the half hour, on a gong.  By design, the clock cannot be silenced.  However, if this is important, it can be silenced at any time by simply lifting the left hand weight off its chain which would cancel the chimes but still enable the timekeeping of the clock...

The clock has a very pretty moon dial in perfect working order.  The dial does have some scuff marks but nothing significant as seen by the pictures.  The brass weights(and pendulum disc) also have scuff marks but can be positioned on the chains such that these marks can hardly be seen from the front of the clock.  Despite the above, the weights and pendulum are in very presentable condition.

The clock is around 40 years of age and as mentioned in exc used condition - it would enhance any home!

65"(H) x 13.25"(W) x 8.25"(D)

Any questions please message me or give me a call?

Grandfather Clock
SOLD
Denise, Lincolnshire

This clock is in excellent condition and is made from a mix of solid oak (nearly all solid oak) and oak veneers.  I would say that the clock is about 30yrs of age and made in North America.  The colour of the clock as seen by the pictures is a medium oak...

The clock has a Urgos Westminster chime movement fitted in exc working order.   The chimes can be cancelled manually at any time using the chime selection lever that is located next to numeral 3. The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The weight shells are in excellent condition. The clock also comes with a brass lyre pendulum in exc used condition. The clock also has the moving moon dial in exc condition.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels.  This makes for easy access of the movement to maybe replace or remove the pendulum and to put the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat!

This is a top quality longcase clock and would enhance any home!

Teresa, Devon

This clock is fitted with an hermle Bim Bam strike movement which is in excellent working order.  The clock strikes out the number of hours and half hours with no quarter hourly chimes.  Because the clock only sounds out the hours and half hours it is not considered as too imposing and as a result has no silencing feature.  However, if the Buyer would have prefered a silencing a feature I will be quite happy to fit one free of charge?

The movement is in exc working order.  The weights and pendulum are in very good condition as is the brass tempus fugit dial.

The clock case is in excellent condition almost like new to be honest!  This clock would fit well in any household being around the 6ft mark in height.
The clock case is a mix of solid mahogany (mouldings) and mahogany finish and has been finished in dark mahogany.

The dimensions of the clock are approx:
71"(H) x 13"(W) x 8"(D)

Grandfather/Grandmother Clock
SOLD,
Mr Batcock, Cambridgeshire

This clock is made of solid mahogany and is in excellent condition.  This is one of the very few smallcombe clocks that was made from solid mahogany and would have been a special order.  Has the odd mark here and there but in excellent condition considering the clock has been around for the best part of 3 decades.  The clock has been finished in dark mahogany but please see the pictures to give you a better idea of the shade of colour...

I have just fitted a brand new - straight from the factory - German Hermle triple chime movement!  This movement has automatic night silence which means that the chimes automatically silence from late evening and restart in the mornings.  The chimes can also be silenced manually using a small push rod that is located in the waist of the clock.  This lever is also used to select a choice of 3 chimes, namely:  Whittington, St Michael, Westminster.  Using the manual silencing feature, the chimes can be cancelled anytime eg when you have people around for dinner(!) or maybe when you are watching your favourite TV programme!  Also worth noting is that the automatic night silencing feature can also be cancelled in which case the chimes would sound continually unless of course they were cancelled using the manual silencing feature.

The 3 brass heavy weights are in lovely condition as is the pendulum disc. The dial is very ornate and in very good condition with brass coloured serpentine hands instead of the usual black coloured serpentine hands.

The hood of the clock is easily removed by sliding it forwards.  This makes easy access to the movement should it ever be knocked out of beat or for more simpler tasks such as removing and replacing of the pendulum.

This is a beautiful clock which would enhance any home and the Buyer will not be disappointed.  I always try and keep my prices right down - the slightly higher price of the clock is to cover the high cost of the new German movement that has just been fitted.

The dimensions of the clock are approximately:

70.5"(H) x 15.75"(W) x 9"(D)

If you require any further pictures please ask and i will forward extra pictures to your personal email address or better still please come along and view the clock?

Grandafather Clock
SOLD
Terry, Essex

This clock is in excellent condition.  It is constructed from a mix of solid oak and oak veneers and I would say that the clock has been finished in medium oak.

The clock has an Hermle Westminster chime movement fitted (0451-050H/94cm).  This movement is in excellent working order sounding out the quarter hourly Westminster chimes and striking out the hours.  I am not sure of the full background of the clock eg., when it was last serviced so please bear that in mind.

The 3 heavy weights that power the movement are soiled and do have scuff marks.  However, the majority/worst of these soiled areas are on the rear of the weight shells hence cannot be seen when the weights are positioned correctly on the chains, as seen in the picture that I have added.  This picture is a very accurate view of the weights.  The pendulum disc also has a few scuff marks and is slightly tarnished but still presentable when viewed from the front of the clock.  The dial is in extremely good condition!

The clock can be silenced at night or any other time by the adjustment of a small arm which is located to the side of the dial behind the hood door of the clock.

This clock is a lovely timepiece and being around the 6ft mark in height would also be compatable for any size home/ceiling.

Dimensions of clock are approx:

77.5"(H) x 16.5"(W) x 9.5"(D)
H= top of finial.

Philip, South Wales

This clock is made of solid walnut throughout and is in excellent condition as seen by the photographs that have been uploaded.  There is a small lighter coloured area near the handle on the pendulum door - please note that this is not a scuff mark... it looks to be in the wood.  However, there is no damage whatsoever.

The clock has anh Hermle Westminster Chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  The chimes can be silenced by adjusting the small lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial adjacent to numeral 3.  This lever is also used to select the westminster chimes.

The brass weights and lyre pendulum are in excellent condition as is the dial and moving moon feature.

The dimensions of the clock are approx:

Mr T Bradshore, Essex

This clock is in excellent condition and is made of a mix of solid oak and oak finish.

The clock has a Kieninger Westminster Chime German movement installed which has just been serviced and so in excellent condition/working order.

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights which are in very good condition.  There is a few scratches on the brass weights but the weight shells are very presentable as seen in the pictures.  I will add an extra picture in the next few days though.

The clock has the silencing feature which is easily selected by the adjustment of an arm located near numeral 3.  On the other side of the dial next to numeral 9 the hourly strike can also be silenced.

The brass dial and pendulum disc are both in very good condition.

Dimensions of clock approx:
74.25"(H) x 14"(W) x 9"(D)

Grandfather Clock
SOLD
John, Cheshire

This clock is in near on excellent condition, as seen by the pictures that have been uploaded.  There is some very minor damage to one corner which I have added two pictures of.  The damage is small and to be honest, when i purchased the clock, I didn't even notice this until I arrived back home!  The clock is about 40 years of age and has plenty of character and looks very traditional.

The movement has just been serviced and is in excellent working order.  The movement has Westminster Chimes and also displays the calender - date, days, months and also has the seconds feature.  These are all working well.  However please note that the calender feature on any longcase clock is never 100% accurate eg., leap years, varying days in a month etc affect the accuracy.

The Westminster chimes can easily be cancelled at night or any other time by the adjustment of a push rod that is located behind the waist door of the clock.

The clock dial, weights and pendulum and are in very good condition (see pictures)  The weight shells have a few scuff marks but these can all be positioned on the chains such that these marks are not noticed when viewed from the front of the clock.  The moon dial is in perfect working order.

The hood of the clock slides forward to reveal the moon dial and movement.  This makes for easy access of the movement to remove/replace pendulum and to gain easy access to the suspension of the movement should the clock be ever knocked out of beat at any time.

This clock would enhance any home.  The clock has to be seen to be appreciated and i highly recommend you to come along and view the clock as the pictures do nothing to show the true quality of the clock.  If you are interested and would like to see more pictures please do ask and I will forward more pictures to your personal email address.  Any questions or queries please message me or give me a call?

I will add the dimensions later.
(Height i would estimate at 7ft!)

Grandmother Clock
SOLD
Jess, Stirling, Scotland

This clock has an Hermle Bim Bam strike movement fitted and is in excellent working order.  The movement strikes the number of hours and strikes once on the half hour.  The movement by design does not have a silencing device.  I can fit a silencing device if required.  Because the clock only strikes the hours and half hours it is not considered necessary to have a silencing feature unlike the quarterly chiming clocks with Westminster, St Michael or Whitt chimes.

The clock case is in excellent condition and is made of a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish.
(The waist door of the clock has a lock and key to firmly keep the door closed which is perhaps handy if you have small children!)

I have just fitted two brand new polished brass weight shells and new pendulum stick to this clock... the pendulum disc is in very good condition as is the brass dial.

The clock is finished in dark mahogany but please study the pictures?

I have called the clock a Grandmother as it measures more than 60" in height.

The clock measures approx:

64"(H) x 12"(W) x 8"(D)

Grandfather Clock

Joe & Tracey, Reading

This clock is in excellent condition for a clock that has been around for the passed 40 years and is made from a mix of oak veneers and solid oak.  It has been finished in a medium oak finish.  Please see the pictures to give yourself a better idea of the colour.

I have just fitted a Hermle Westminster chime movement 0451-053H/94cm which is in excellent working order.  Also I have just fitted a brand new brass moon dial.  This dial is brand new and cost well over £100 when purchased last year!

The clock has a chime selection lever that is located through an elongated slot in the dial next to numeral 3.  This lever is used to select the Westminster chime or to cancel the chimes anytime you want some peace and quiet!

The brass weight shells are in very good presentable condition.  They do have some marks here and there through the constant handling of the shells to wind the clock over the years but these marks are quite insignificant.  The pendulum disc does have some marks and scratches.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels which is handy when removing/replacing the pendulum or perhaps if you wish to see the movement chiming?  Also, the side panels are vented which helps to enhance the sound of the Westminster Chimes...

The dimensions of the clock are approx:

82"(H) x 16.5"(W) x 9.5"(D)     H= to top of finial

Jon, Kent

This clock is made of a mix of solid mahogany and Mahogany finish and is in fantastic condition.  There is a very small knock right at the bottom of the clock (on the side of the skirting)  which is can hardly be seen.  Considering the clock has been around for the best part of 3 decades it is in excellent condition as seen in the pictures.
The clock has been finished in dark mahogany but please see the pictures to give you a better idea of the shade of colour...

The clock has a German Hermle triple chime movement fitted in excellent working order.  The chimes can be silenced manually using a small push rod that is located in the waist of the clock.  This lever is also used to select a choice of 3 chimes, namely:  Whittington, St Michael, Westminster.  Using the manual silencing feature, the chimes can be cancelled anytime eg when you have people around for dinner(!) or maybe when you are watching your favourite TV programme!

The 3 brass heavy weights are in lovely condition with just the odd small blemish. The dial is very ornate and in very good condition with brass coloured serpentine hands instead of the usual black coloured serpentine hands.

The hood of the clock is easily removed by sliding it forwards (please see picture with hood removed). This makes easy access to the movement should it ever be knocked out of beat or for more simpler tasks such as removing and replacing of the pendulum.

This is a beautiful clock which would enhance any home and the Buyer will not be disappointed, it would enhance any home.

The dimensions of the clock are approximately:

This clock is just a few years old and is in immaculate condition.  It is made of solid mahogany with just the (usual) veneered back panel of the clock.  As seen by the pictures it is in excellent condition!

The clock is fitted with a top quality Kieninger movement which comes complete with autonight silence.  The chimes cancel from 10:15pm and restart at 7:15am.  This feature is optional and can be cancelled.  The autonight silence is easily cancelled by adjusting a lever that is located next to numeral 9.  The Westminster Chimes can also be cancelled manually at any time using the lever that is located next to numeral 3.  This lever of course is used to select the Westminster Chime.

The clock comes complete with the moon dial which is in excellent working order.

Access to the movement is via either of two glass removable side panels which makes easy access to the movement eg should the pendulum need to be removed/refitted etc etc.  The movement can also be easily seen working through these glass observation panels.

The clock is weight driven on cables and wound by a Crank key.  The 3 brass heavy weights are much larger than the usual standard weights and are in excellent condition.  The decorative brass pendulum is also in exc condition.

The large opening door has a lock and key to keep it firmly closed at all times which may be useful if you or your family have small children to prevent access to the interior of the clock.

Finally the previous owner had a brass plaque fitted with engraved writing... I will be more than happy to refit a new brass plaque and have it engraved with the new owners names or any other details the new owner may require.  This will be included in the price of the clock!

The clock is weight driven and wound by pulling downwards on the chains.  The brass weight shells are in mint condition as is the brass pendulum disc.  The brass tempus fugit dial is in mint condition.

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD

Kevin, Australia

(Please note: To all who have enquired -  I DO NOT ship any longcase clocks outside of the UK... this clock has been purchased by a Buyer in Lancashire whom is emigrating to Australia in February)

The clock has the following features:

It is in prestine condition.   It is made of solid oak throughout - no veneers!

It has a top quality German movement fitted in excellent working order.   The movement and thus the clock is only 10 years of age so all is like new.

The movement has a choice of 3 chimes - Whittington, St Michael, Westminster.   All these features can be selected by the adjustment of the small lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial next to numeral 3.   This lever is also used to manually silence the clock whenever you want immediate silence, peace and quiet!

The clock also has the automatic silencing feature which means that the clock automatically silences from 10pm in the evenings and restarts at 7.15am in the mornings.   This feature is optional and can be swicthed by the adjustment of a second lever that is located next to numeral 9.   However its a good idea to leave the auto night silence switched on.

The clock is fitted with 3 brass engraved weights in mint condition.   It also has a very large brass engraved pendulum disc of a building in Bavaria, very ornate indeed and in immaculate condition.

The clock is weight driven on cables and wound by a large crank key... winding is done by turning the crank key anticlockwise.   The brass dial is in immaculate condition and has the full moon phase.

The clock cabinet has small glass shelves for ornaments etc it also has an interior light (electric) which looks great when switched on at night time illuminating the whole of the inside cabinet and brightly displaying the weights and pendulum.   The back of the clock cabinet has an heavy duty mirror in exc condition!!

The large oak door has a key lock to keep it firmly closed.

There is also two small doors either side of the dial of the clock - these both open to gain access to the movement.   This is very useful not just for viewing the mechanical mechanism but also to remove and replace the pendulum when moving the clock from A to B.

Dimensions of clock are:

81"(H) x 34"(W) x 13"(D)

Now the price... I have paid a large sum of money for this clock being what it.   The previous owner paid £3000 for it.   It is in immaculate condition!

(Please note: To all who have enquired - This was a strictly ONE OFF sale where the clock was delivered by Courier to the Republic of Ireland.  I ONLY undertake deliveries in the UK, all longcase clocks being delivered and set-up by myself)

This clock has an Hermle triple chime movement fitted and is in excellent working order.  There is a choice of 3 chimes - namely, Whittington, St Michael, Westminster.  There is also an option to silence the chimes.  All the above selections is achieved by adjusting a small lever that locates through an elongated slot in the dial next to numeral 3.

The clock also has the moon feature in perfect working order.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The brass weight shells/pend disc are tarnished/soiled.  However if the weights are hung properly on the chains the worst of the tarnishing can be hidden from the front of the clock.  The tarnishing has been caused by constant handling of the weights (..to wind the clock) over the passed 30 years!  Had the previous owner worn gloves this would not have happened

The clock case is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish.  The clock case is in extremely good condition as seen by the pictures, with just the odd mark  However if you are interested in the clock but would like to see more pictures please ask and i will forward more pictures to your personal email address?  Or better still please do come along and view the clock?

Stuart, Bournmouth

There has been a slight doubt whether this clock is a shade of Mahogany or Oak!  Please see pictures that have been uploaded to help you decide??  However I can say that the clock is made from a mix of solid timbers and timber veneers and is in excellent used condition.

The clock has been given a distressed look which has been added when manufactured, to make the clock look older than it actually is.  I would estimate the age of the clock to be about 15yrs of age.  The clock was purchased from John Lewis and never used so it is in showroom condition and excellent working order!  I have taken numerous pictures of the clock which have hopefully given some idea of the distressed appearance that has been applied.  If you are interested and require more pictures please ask and i will forward more pictures to your personal email address?

The clock has an Hermle triple chime movement fitted which has a choice of Westminster, St Michael and Whittington chimes.  It also has a silencing feature.  All these options can be selected by adjusting a small lever that projects through an elongated slot in the arched dial adjacent to numeral 3.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights in excellent condition... likewise, the brass pendulum and brass dial is also in excellent condition

The clock is approx 79"(H) x 17"(W) x 9.5"(D)

This clock has a Hermle Westminster chime movement installed which is in exc working order!  However, as I do not know the full background of the clock, I would advise a service eventually.

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights all of which are in very good condition as is the brass pendulum disc.

The clock case is made of solid mahogany (I have checked it all over and cannot see any evidence of veneered timbers so it looks to me like this clock is made of solid timber).  In any case, as you can see by viewing the picture, it is in extremely good condition .  I would say that it is finished in a medium shade of mahogany.

The brass tempus fugit dial is in exc condition.

By the looks of it I do not think that this clock has silencing mechanism fitted.  However if you would prefer a silencing mechanism I should be able to install one.  Please ask if this is important to you?

The clock dimensions are approximately:

71"(H) x 14"(W) x 9"(D)

Please note H = to very top of finial.
The height to the top of the swan neck pediment is about 69"

Noreen & Paul, Norfolk

This clock is made of solid oak throughout and is about 25 yrs of age. It is in excellent condition.

The clock has a kieninger Westminster chime movement installed in exc working order.  The previous owner tells me that it was professionally serviced just a few years ago.  The mechanism can be silenced by adjusting a small arm located just behind the dial. On the other side of the dial (next to numeral 9) there is also another lever to silence the hour strike.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights. The weights are tarnished but can be positioned on the chains in such a way that the majority of these tarnishes are not so obvious.  In my opinion, the weight shells are very presentable though!  The brass tempus fugit dial is in exc condtion.  The pendulumdisc also has some tarnish marks but once again presentable.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels that are located in the hood of the clock. This makes easy access to the movement for example making any adjustments or for simple tasks like removal/refitting of the pendulum.

The dimensions of the clock are approx:  74"(H) x14(W) x 8"(D)

The clock case is a mix of solid oak and oak finish and is in excellent condition.  Access to the movement is easily achieved by removing either side panel that is located in the sides of the hood of the clock.  This makes life much easier when removing/refitting of the pendulum and also resetting the clock should it ever be knocked out of beat.  The case is finished in medium oak.  I would say that the clock is about 45 years of age basing it on what i have been told from the previous owner.

The 3brass heavy weights are also in very good condition with only the odd scuff mark here and there.  The pendulum and disc is in exc condition!

This clock would enhance any home, it looks superb!  It also has a small opening door in the base of its cabinet.

Dimensions of the clock are approx:  83"(H) x 20"(W) x 11"(D).

Grandather Clock
SOLD.
Paul, Seaham (N/E)

This clock has an Hermle westminster chime movement fitted and is in excellent working order.  The movement can be silenced at night or any other time by adjusting the lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial.  This lever is also used to select the westminster chimes.  Also the clock has the calender feature - it has months, date, days and seconds.  All are working as they should but i am not too sure how to set this up - the month and date is adjusted simultaneouly by turning the small adjustment screw clockwise - this is only the second clock that i have had that has had the calender feature hence new all to me!
The brass weights are in very good condition -  there is the odd mark/scratch on the weights but are very presentable!  The decorative lyre pendulum is also in good condition.
The case is made of a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish and has been finished in dark mahogany.  The case is in very good condition.  However, there is a slight crack in the veneer on the front of the base of the clock.  To be honest it cannot even be seen when viewed from the front of the clock but as i am honest all my write ups i felt that i should mention this small fault.  If you would like more pictures please ask and i will send more pictures for you to view.
The moon dial is also in very good condition (plz note that the moon in the picture is not in view- there is a moon though!)  The dimensions of the clock is approx:

77"(H) x 17"(W) x 10"(D)

Grandfather Clock
SOLD,
Leigh & Linda, Lancashire

I have been
informed that this clock is made of solid cherry wood which has a 'birds eye effect similar to that found on solid maple wood.  I am not 100% sure if this is correct but what i do know is that it is made of solid timber.  I have had many clocks in the past made from solid Yew which also has a grain similar to this clock?  So please do ask for more pictures if interested and i will quite happily forward more pictures to your personal email address for you to view the clock in more detail.

The clock is in very good condition!  It has a Hermle triple chime movement installed which offers a choice of either Westminster, St Michael or Whittington Chimes.  It can also be silenced at night time.  All these features are achieved by the adjustment of the small lever that locates  through the elongated slot in the brass dial.  The dial also has the moon phase which is in excellent working order.

The movement is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The brass weight shells do have some scuff marks (tarnishing) where they have been handled over the years.  However despite these tarnished areas they are still quite presentable and of course do not effect the functioning of the movement so purely cosmetic only.  The clock has a very decorative lyre pendulum in very good condition.

The hood of the clock is detachable which makes for easy access to the movement.

Dimensions of the clock are:

71(H) x 16(W) x 10"(D)

This clock would senhance any home!

Corner Grandfather Clock by Interclock

SOLD,
Yazid, Malaysia

(Please note: To all who have enquired -  I DO NOT ship any longcase clocks outside of the UK... this clock has been purchased by a Buyer in Berkshire whom is emigraing to Malaysia in 2 weeks)

This clock, in a word, is stunning!  It would enhance any home!  And it must sell because i need the space!!!

The clock is in excellent condition and is made of solid Oak.  It has Westminster Chimes and can be silenced manually - both these features can be done manually using the small adjustment lever that locates through the elongated slot in the dial.  However, the clock has automatic night silence feature - once selected the chimes will automatically cancel from 11pm and restart at 8am in the mornings.  I have had a quick glance and it looks as if the clock has an Urgos mechanical movement fitted (.. could be kieninger but I will confirm if important to you?).  One thing for sure, it is a German mechanism!
The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights on cables
- clock is wound using the crank key.  The brass weights are in excellent condition!  The lyre pendulum is also in exc condition and the diameter of the disc is a massive 10.5"!
Access to the movement is via either of two small opening doors located in the hood of the clock.  This makes easier access to the movement for example removing/refitting of the pendulum and maybe putting the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat.
The interior of the clock has small glass shelves and also has an interior light which works off the mains.  The bottom of the clock cabinet has an opening door - all three doors - the hood, waist and bottom door have locks to keep them firmly closed!
The dial is in excellent condition and has the moving moon feature in perfect working order!  Clock comes complete with crank key...
Dimensions of the clock are approx:
86"(H) x 28"(W) x 12"(D)

Please note:  This clock is very large and very heavy being made of solid Oak... certainly the biggest clock i have ever owned!

The clock case is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish and is in extremely good condition.  I would say that the clock is finished in dark mahogany... if you require more pics please ask?  The sides of the hood of the clock have removable glass inspection panels.  This allows the Buyer to view the movement whilst it is working and also allows easier access to the movement for removing/refitting of the pendulum and also to put the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat.

Rachel, Leicester

This clock has just been fitted with a brand new Hermle Westminster Chime movement 0451-053H/114cm.  The movement can be silenced at any time using the chime selection lever that is located through the slot in the front of the dial.

The clock case is in excellent condition and has many carved decorative mouldings - please see the pictures.

The case is a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish and is in excellent condition.  I am not sure of the age of this clock but from what I have been told by the previous owner I would say in the region of 60 years of age.

Access to the movement is via either of two removable side panels that are located in the sides of the hood of the clock.  This makes life much easier when removing/replacing the pendulum or to put the clock back into beat should ever be knocked out of beat.

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights.  The weights are in very good condition.  They do have the odd scuff mark but can be hung on the chains such that these marks are hardly visible when viewed from the front of the clock.  They are very presentable!  I have just fitted a brand new pendulum with an above average sized pendulum disc.  The tempus fugit dial is in very good condition.

The glass in the waist door of the clock has been leaded, the middle section of the glass having a bevelled edge.

This clock is probably one of the best I have ever owned and the Buyer will not be disappointed! (More pics please ask?)

Charlie, Inverness

This clock has just been fitted with a brand new triple chime movement with automatic night silence.  This means that the chimes automatically switch off from 10pm and restart at 7am in the mornings.  Also, the chimes can be silenced manually using the small lever that locates through the slot in the front of the dial (next to numeral 3).  Also this lever is used to select any of the chimes - Westminster, St Michael or Whittington.

The clock case is in very good condition.  There is the odd mark or two here in there.  The front left upper side of the base has some slight wear -  but as i say, overall this clock is in very good condition for a clock that has been around for just over 20 years.  More pictures please ask?

The moving moon dial, brass weights and pendulum are in very good condition!  And moon dial is in very good working order.

The case of the clock is constructed from a mix of solid mahogany and mahogany finish.  I would describe the colour to be dark mahogany.

Solid Oak Emperor Grandfather Clock
SOLD,
Garry, Lincolnshire

This clock is made of solid oak throughout and is extremely stocky and heavy!!

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights - all in very good condition considering the clock has been around for over 25 years (..there is the odd scratch around lower part of 2 of the weight shells which to be honest are not recognisable when waist door is closed), as is the pendulum disc.  The weights are on cables and therefore the clock is wound using the clock key provided with the clock.  The movement has just been professionally serviced so in excellent working order.

The clock comes with automatic night silence but can be manually silenced at anytime using the chime selection lever that locates through the elongated slot in the brass dial.   This lever is also used to select either Westminster, St Michael or Whittington Chimes. Also this lever can be used to cancel the quarter chimes and to just play the hour strike.  On the opposite side of the dial )next to numeral 9, there is also another lever that can be used to cancel the hour strike...

The dial is exc condition and has the moving moon dial - all working perfectly well.

The chimes of the clock are loud and very mellow and the buyer of the clock will not be disappointed...

Dimensions of clock are approximately:

80"(H) x 22"(W) x 12"(D)
Price £675 (no offers)

 Grandfather Clock

SOLD

KEITH, CUMBRIA

This clock has an Hermle triple chime movement which has just been fully serviced.

There is a choice of Westminster, Whittington and St Michael Chimes all of which can be selected by using the small lever that locates through the front of the dial.  This lever can also be used to silence the clock at anytime...

The clock case is in very good condition. It has no scratches.  However, the previous owner had this clock in storage for a number of years and used tape to hold the hood and waist door from opening.  This has left some slighlty darkened areas on the clock case which in my honest opinion are not that noticable!   I have not tried to erase these affected areas but maybe an application of Oak coloured briwax or similar would eliminate these imperfections?

The moving moon dial is in very good condition and working order!  The 3 brass weights do have a number of scuff marks/tarnishing caused through handling of the weights over years when winding the clock without using protective gloves.  This is purely cosmetic though and does not affect the mechanism - in fact, it adds to the character of the clock!

The case of the clock is constructed from a mix of solid oak and oak finish.  I would describe the colour to be medium oak.

Dimensions of the clock are approx:

71"(H) x 15"(W) x 9"(D)
This clock would suit and enhance any home.

The clock case is also in very good condition.  As viewed from the front of the clock, there is a small crack in the veneer to the bottom left of the waist door of the clock.  However, with the door closed this slight damage is hardly recognisable but as I am honest in all my descriptions I felt it necessary to mention this small fault.  Overall the clock is in lovely condition and I encourage all potential Buyers to come along and view the clock?!  If you want more pictures please ask and i'll forward more pictures to your personal email address?  Any questions please give me a call?

The dial is a brass tempus fugit... both this and the brass weights/lyre pendulum are in excellent condition.

Access to the movement is acheived by removing either or both of two side panels which are located in the sides of the hood of the clock case.  This is very handy to remove/replace the pendulum when the clock is moved from A to B or to put the clock back into beat should it ever be knocked out of beat!  Also the oberservation holes can be used to view the movement whilst it is working/chiming away?

The clock cabinet is about 15 years of age.

The case of the clock is made of solid mahogany and is in excellent condition.  Most Fenclocks - apart from the Grandaughter models - were made from a mix of solid timbers and veneered timbers.  The veneered timbers were used for the sides of the clock cabinet.  I have been informed by the previous owner that this clock was made to order and has solid mahogany sides instead of the usual veneered finish.

If you require further pictures forwarding to your personal email address then please ask?

This clock has an hermle triple chime movement fitted which is in excellent working order.

There is a choice of Westminster, St Michael, Whittington chimes all of which can be selected by the lever that locates through the slot in the front of the dial.  This lever can also be used to silence the mechanism at night or any other time you require some peace and quiet!

The clock also has the moon phase dial which is in good condition - It does however have some very mild rippling where the arch of the dial meets the square section of the dial.  This is a very common occurrence in clocks that have a removable hood and is a result of the hood being carelessly removed/replaced!  The moon is working perfectly well...

The clock is powered by 3 brass heavy weights - the brass weight shells have scuff marks and one weight shell has a small dent.  Some of these imperfections on the weight shells can be hidden by correctly positioning them on their chains.  If you require to see more pics of the weight shells/dial please ask and i will send further pics to your personal email address?
